Gram[m]ofon: Anna Zaradny
Gram[m]ofon = talk + podcast + concert

A record collection is a very personal thing, might tell stories about childhood, infatuations, disappointments, joys, sorrows and passions. If a record collection could be said to be the soundtrack of your life, the record player might just tell us who you are.
Get to know the composer, sound- and visual artist Anna Zaradny through a personal conversation with Mats Almegård and by playback of her favorite music!

Mats Almegård is the producer and reporter of the show Elektroniskt i P2 med Andreas Tilliander – the show on electronic music on Swedish National Radio.

Marta Forsberg
Fylkingen are excited to be able to present composer Marta Forsberg. At the festival she will perform her minimalist work Weave and Dream, a slowly evolving spectral monolith for sound and light.

Marta Forsberg is a Swedish violinist and composer working in the field of free improvisation, electroacoustic and drone music. Dedicated to creating an all embracing environment, Forsberg’s work extends the sensory realm through multichannel expansion and via light sculptures, a sonic visualisation. Weave and Dream is a sound and light performance exploring darkness, luminance and color, using LED-lights and minimalist drone music. The piece unmasks a parallel reality, like walls of glass against the rest of the world. It stands for asylum, calmness and glow. A room that aims to embrace you, a room to rest in.

Shitney Spears
The three members of Shitney Spears are all intensely familiar with each other, having previously crisscrossed in various musical constellations including Pistol No. 9, Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe, and Television Pickup. Shitney was born in early 2015 with the purpose of creating new and uncompromising music on a contrasting acoustic/electric sound
plane.

Here are three women who are all, in their own ways, on the fringe of musical normality. They create an unpredictable mix of the concrete and
abstract, using beats and samples, as well as synthetic and organic sounds.

SEKT has, since starting in 1999, been consequently dealing with critique of the musical norms. These norms vary of course, ever shifting, decided by the prevailing context of art music. Some acts just fit right into the SEKT zeitgeist so we are incredibly proud to present Shitney Spears, the most SEKT band of 2016.

Deena Abdelwahed
Coming from the Tunisian alternative music scene, Deena injects a dose of innovation and experimentation in Electro Dance Music in Tunisia.

By combining urban rhythms and personal touch, it offers avant-garde music particularly energetic. She debuted as funk and jazzsinger by accompanying jazzman Fawzi Chekili and the group “So Soulful”, then joined the World Full Of Bass DJs collective in 2011, and just before moving to Toulouse/France the next year, she was involved with Arabstazy’s artists and performed live sets in numerous European and north African cities.

Independent today, and supported by artists as Acid Arab, Morphosis, Bachar Mar-Khalifé or Debruit. Her upcoming first album with Infiné Music Label in Paris is set to be released this winter.

At Sound of Stockholm 2016 Deena will presents her award-winning radio art performance All Hail Mother Internet.
Who would I be if there was no Internet? Searching for an answer to this question, Deena Abdelwahed has developed a semi-theatrical radio art performance that tells of the everyday conflicts between Tunisia’s Generation Y and their parents, of fragile and vulnerable young identities in the field of tension between traditional Islam and modern Western lifestyle.

“All Hail Mother Internet” was one of two works commissioned by Deutschlandradio Kultur and CTM Festival 2016.

Anna Zaradny
Anna Zaradny is a polish sound and visual artist, composer and improviser.

As a composer and instrumentalist her practice spans a wide spectrum of genres: from acoustic improvised music with a contemporary minimalist language to the complex structures of experimental electronic compositions. As a visual artist, she works in various media including installations, objects, photography and video. Anna uses abstraction, micro sound and architectonic elements, lights and space. Her pieces are marked by the ambiguity and the relationship between medium and ideas.

At Sound of Stockholm Anna Zaradny will present the video piece Octopus and a liveset with material from her latest album Go Go Theurgy.

Created for a musical piece, Octopus is a short film which engages in a dialogue on experimental music tapping into the music video format - more commonly linked to popular culture. Playing around with this expression, Zaradny also alters the context of the original piece, generating an entirely new aesthetic dimension.

Go Go Theurgy consists of two majestic compositions. Strikingly charismatic and intense, they teem with sensuality and anxiety, while their palpably dense and detailed texture is filled with tension and sense of urgency. The crystal-clear narration of these structurally complex pieces creates a framework for Zaradny's uniquely intricate and emotional sound.
