Leo Svirsky is a pianist, composer, and improviser currently based in the Hague. He has performed at the Smithsonian Institution Piano 300 Exhibition, the National Arts Center of Canada, the Contemporary Music Forum, the Library of Congress, and the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, and the Kremlin among others.

He was first prize winner of the Isabel Scionti Piano Competition, the Athur Fraser Concerto Competition, and most recently the recepient of the Labberté-Hoedemaker prize at the Peter the Great Festival.

In 2003, he was invited by Denys Bouliane and the National Arts Centre of Canada to perform a work of Bouliane and his own composition, ChANson dADA.

At the age of 17 he performed Rachmoninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto with the South Carolina Philharmonic. Later in that year he performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 20 with the Bratislava Philharmonic, improvising atonal cadenzas.

Leo has also played in various experimental ensembles: the anarcho-punk avant-jazz band Baby Killer Estelle, psych-prog band Hume, the Acid Police Noise Ensemble, and the electronic improvising group This Bag is Not a Toy. As an improviser he appeared with (among others) Marshell Allen, Elliot Levin, John Berndt, Yedo Gibson, Anne LaBerge, Renato Ferreira, Nicolau Lafeta, Ricardo Tejero, Agusti Fernandez, and Michael Moore among others.

He is currently studying at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague."
